Event Details

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and the Scottish Government are hosting a one day conference that will show how local authority land use planners, transport planners and sustainability staff can help to improve air quality, minimise the risk to human health and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The event is FREE and will be held at the Scottish Government, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, on the 8 September 2010 from 10 am to 4 pm. A buffet lunch will be provided.

Seven guest speakers will present a range of topics that will include:

Three local authority case studies that focus on ‘forming a working group’, ‘reducing the emissions from buses’ and ‘ reducing the impact of  HGVs’.

  • The benefits of integrating policies to improve local air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • A summary of the recently revised Development Control: Planning for Air Quality (2010 Update).
  • An introduction to the ECOstars approach to setting up voluntary freight partnerships.
  • A brief overview of the air quality action plans and the reasons why they are failing to improve air quality.
